What types of transactions can be covered by Overdraft Pay Advantage?

The types of transactions that can be covered by Overdraft Pay Advantage (OPA) depend on your level of enrollment:

  • Standard OPA with everyday debit transactions: Covers checks, electronic (ACH) payments, recurring automatic debit card transactions, and everyday debit card transactions. As a courtesy to Members enrolled in OPA, RCU may allow your account to be overdrawn up to a negative balance of $25 without charging an overdraft fee for covered transactions within that amount.

  • Standard OPA Coverage: Covers checks, electronic (ACH) payments, and recurring debit card transactions only. As a courtesy to Members enrolled in OPA, RCU may allow your account to be overdrawn up to a negative balance of $25 without charging an overdraft fee for covered transactions within that amount.

  • Not enrolled in OPA: As a courtesy, RCU may allow your account to be overdrawn up to a negative balance of $5 or less without charging an overdraft fee.

When the OPA service is used, a fee will be charged, subject to a combined maximum of four OPA and/or NSF fees per day. If a transaction is paid and causes your account to have a negative balance, you will be asked to make a deposit to restore the account to a positive balance as soon as possible, and no later than 20 days after the transaction is paid.
As a courtesy to Members enrolled in OPA, RCU may allow your account to be overdrawn up to a negative balance of $25 without charging an overdraft fee for covered transactions within that amount. If your account is not in good standing or you have not made regular deposits into your account, we may not be able to extend Overdraft Pay Advantage services to pay your transaction.

RCU offers Members valuable products and services with no or low fees. For select products and services, some fees are assessed as a cost recovery. See our Cost Recovery Schedules for Personal Accounts and Business Accounts for details.
